Milei launches English social media accounts with bizarre superhero animation

Date:

President Javier Milei launched his social media accounts in English with a bizarre video of a character called “General Ancap,” an invented superhero he has dressed up as in the past. Milei will post English-language content on X, Instagram, YouTube, TikTok and Facebook. “I invite you to follow my official social media accounts in English. Long live freedom, damn it…!!!” he wrote in English on his existing accounts. The handle for the new accounts is @MileiEnglishOfficial, except for X, where users can find him at @JMilei_English. The first post published on the new accounts was a video of an apparently AI-generated character called General Ancap — short for anarcho-capitalist, Milei’s ideology, which refers to the belief that the state should be eliminated and public services managed by private companies in a free market with no restrictions. “Hello, freedom fighters of the world. I’m General Ancap. Definitely not Milei,” the character says at the start of the video. “I’m here to guide you on the official English account of our real life hero, Javier Milei.” The character clearly resembles Milei and a costume he wore for an anime and manga convention in 2019, before getting formally involved in politics. “My mission is to kick the asses of those Keynesians sons of bitches that want to ruin our lives,” Milei said in a video introducing the backstory for his character at the time. The video shows snippets of Milei during his presidential campaign, such as the viral video of him saying which ministries he would eliminate after he won the elections. “Afuera!” (“Out!”) he can be heard saying as he throws away pieces of paper bearing the names of the departments. It also shows images of Milei meeting world leaders such as Donald Trump and Georgia Meloni, as well as magnate Elon Musk. The Argentine president, the video said, is “becoming a heavyweight as a world influencer” with a “unique brand of epic rock star” and “aggressive Libertarianism.” Images of Milei a few years before he ran for president, when he used to insult those he disagreed with during TV appearances and events as an economic pundit, also feature in the video. “Leftist sons of bitches, tremble,” he said in one of the clips.
