Now that the rain has (finally) lowered the temperature a bit, the city is (relatively) livable again. And when that happens, Buenos Aires always finds a way to have something interesting for everyone. This weeks recommendations range from experimental music built on real-time looping and a collectors fair devoted to Playmobil to the return of elite tennis competition. Here are three events both free and ticketed to add to your calendar over the coming days across the city. Its a dive into an artistic practice that combines technology, experimental sound, song writing in real time, and collaborative work. Its unique feature is that it is not organized around musical genres, but rather around a shared technique: live looping that is, the recording, repetition, and layering of sounds in real time during a performance. Throughout ten days, the festival will host activities in Buenos Aires City and the Viedma-Patagones region (February 9 to 17) integrating live performances, open workshops, talks, and collective experiences. The festival is part of the Y2K International Live Looping Festival, an international network created in 2001 by Californian musician Rick Walker that brings together artists from more than one hundred cities worldwide.
