While we keep waiting for the long-lost sunshine, the weekend offers several plans to lift up this gloomy Buenos Aires. Bookworms can browse hundreds of independent publishers at the Editors’ Fair, while K-pop fans head to Usina del Arte for performances and workshops led by one of Korea’s top choreographers.  Food lovers have plenty to choose from, including a smoked barbecue festival, a one-night collaboration between La Mar and Rosario’s Refinería, and a showcase of Argentine wines at Casa Cavia by one of the world’s top sommeliers.  The week also brings networking events, intimate concerts, major arena shows and reunions by some of Argentina’s most beloved musicians. Corrientes 6271)Free admission; tickets available on Passline The Editors’ Fair (FED) will feature hundreds of publishers from Latin America and Spain, showcasing their new releases and best works. One of the year’s main events for book lovers and a Buenos Aires cultural landmark, FED also features conferences and conversations with renowned authors and industry professionals.  On its 15th anniversary, FED will keep the festivities going after hours with an official party at Teatro Vorterix (Av. Federico Lacroze 3455) on Saturday, starting just before midnight. The celebration will feature DJ Villa Diamante, the eclectic live act Sandwich Pianobar, and electronic duo La Malibu, offering fairgoers a chance to swap books for the dance floor and toast Argentina’s biggest independent publishing events. K-pop Weekend at Usina del Arte August 8 and 9 starting at 2 p.m.Usina del Arte (Agustín R. Caffarena 1)Free admission Buenos Aires’ Korean Cultural Center brings its annual K-pop Weekend to Usina del Arte with two days of live performances, workshops, immersive experiences and activities celebrating Korean pop culture. The highlight is Saturday’s 17th K-pop Contest in Argentina, where singers and dance crews from across the country will compete before a jury led by renowned choreographer Back Kooyoung of Seoul’s 1MILLION Dance Studio.  Throughout the weekend, visitors can browse Korean food, beauty, language and tourism stands, take part in hands-on workshops inspired by Korean traditions and even customize T-shirts with hangul characters. On Sunday, dancers aged 15 and up can also join an open workshop with Back Kooyoung. Curated by renowned sommelier Paz Levinson and Studio Courtois, Argentina Reloaded opens with exclusive pairing dinners at Crizia before moving to an open tasting at Mirador Central, one of Buenos Aires’ best panoramic views. The program concludes at Casa Cavia with a trade-focused blind tasting and a public walk-around featuring more than 50 labels from 24 Argentine wineries. Coordinated by host sommelier Delvis Huck and her team, the day will begin with Blind Tasting: Wines of the Future, an invitation-only session. The evening concludes with a palate-cleansing sorbet and Refinería’s truffled take on the classic chajá dessert, accompanied by wines from the Polígonos and Alma Cuatro lines.  SMOKED BBQ Festival August 8 & 9, noon-8 p.m.La Rural (Av. Santa Fe 4201)Free admission Smoke takes center stage at La Rural as SMOKED returns for a weekend celebrating low-and-slow barbecue and American comfort food. More than 30 food stalls will serve everything from brisket, ribs, pulled pork and pastrami to burgers, hot dogs, Tex-Mex tacos and smoked fish, alongside craft beer, wine and cocktails. Live music and a gourmet market round out the festival, making it an easy afternoon out for barbecue lovers.
