Get Out! Your weekend choices, from a spicy food festival to Night of the Museums

Date:

This weekend explore the city during La Noche de los Museos, dance and drink at La Francachela, test your limits at Picante Fest BA, and wrap it all up with Festival C, a neighborhood celebration in Villa Urquiza. La Noche de los Museos Saturday 8 — 7 p.m. to 2 a.m.Various locations across the cityFree entry If you’re only going to leave the house once this weekend, make it for this event. It’s the twenty-first edition of the Night of the Museums and we promise you, it’s everything it’s hyped up to be. More than 300 locations, all sorts of iconic buildings, cultural institutions, and the very best museums — places that typically charge an entry fee or are restricted to public access — open their doors for free.  You can visit Congreso de la Nación — the Congress building where you can actually go into the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate — the Teatro Colón workshops, or the Planetarium. A full program of locations and events is available online. Free transport is also available, details for accessing the transportation are on the event webpage. La Francachela Saturday 8 — 7 p.m. Aristipo Libros (Scalabrini Ortiz 605, Villa Crespo)Free entry Courtesy of Victor Caivano It is with much confidence that we say that no city in the world blends partying and literature quite as well as Buenos Aires. Point in case: La Francachela. This street party organized by used bookstore Aristipo Libros has music, empanadas, wine, good books, beautiful people, and everything else you could want on a Saturday night filled with alcohol and education. And because the party never really stops there’s a post-Francachela at La Quince Cultural Space (Corrientes 5426) with a bar and a DJ. Just like that, we’ve leveled up your weekend. This is the last Francachela of the year, so don’t miss out! Picante Fest BA Courtesy of Picante Fest The fourth edition of the spiciest event in the country includes new producers, new activities, and new surprises. Indulge in spicy food and flavors — meet the artisanal producers leading the national scene, take part in talks and activities, and most importantly taste spicy foods. There will be live music, an afterparty, and a “Who Can Eat the Most Spice” competition that isn’t for the faint of heart. Festival C Sunday 9 and Sunday, November 16Cuerda Mecánica (Juramento 4686, Villa Urquiza) Free entry Cuerda Mecánica’s Festival C returns for its third edition bringing two weekends of art, music, and community. The independent cultural center expands into the streets with free outdoor shows, performances, and talks to support Fundación Sí — visitors are encouraged to bring non-perishable food or hygiene donations. On Sunday, November 9, the program starts at 5 p.m. and features readings, the acclaimed audiovisual piece Imprenteros, and an intimate concert by Uruguayan legend Fernando Cabrera (reserve your free tickets online before space fills up). The festivities continue on Sunday, November 16 at 1 p.m., when Juramento Street transforms into an open-air stage with performances by Hilda Lizarazu, Darío Sztajnszrajber, Koufequin, and DJ Villa Diamante, plus a local makers’ market and pop-up food offerings.
