Get Out! A Herald film screening, DJs, rare books, and Claude Monet

Date:

These are complicated dates. We get it. Between end-of-year parties, family commitments, and the rush to finish projects before the holidays, ‘tis the season for burning the candle at both ends. But whether you’re making plans with old friends before the summer break or just passing through, we’ve got you covered. While we have the mic, we’d like to invite our readers to a very special event of our own: the screening of a human rights documentary in the MALBA. The Herald’s screening of Tiempos Circulares at the MALBA Friday, December 12 — 8 p.m.MALBA (Figueroa Alcorta 3415)Tickets: AR$6,000 here (you need to click “Cine,” then select the film) Tiempos Circulares documentary human rights Buenos Aires Herald MALBA. This touching documentary is about two pairs of siblings from Córdoba who are united by the experience of losing their parents to the brutality of Argentina’s last dictatorship. As they participate in workshops, rights groups and trials, they find that their shared joy is the best form of revenge. Dunayevich and the four friends at the heart of the documentary will attend the screening and speak briefly after the film. Learn more here. Since 2015, the creative platform led by Gonzalo Solimano has championed digital arts, experimental projects and interdisciplinary collaboration, becoming a key incubator for Buenos Aires’ cultural scene. Starting at 5 p.m., the space turns into a mini open-air DJ festival among the trees, with back-to-back sets by artists who shaped Artlab’s first decade. Admission is free with prior registration, though guaranteed spots are available through optional donations that support Fundación Huésped’s ongoing community work.  Immersive Colón: Monet December 15 to February 18 Monday to Sunday, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. (last entry 8 p.m.)Teatro Colón’s Experimentation Center (Tucumán 1171)Tickets start at AR$35,000, available here or at the theater’s box office This installation at the Teatro Colón’s Experimentation Center transforms the underground space of Argentina’s iconic opera house into a multisensory journey through the world of Claude Monet and his fellow impressionist masters. His work has earned historic ratings from top publications, putting Argentine wine firmly on the global map. For this event in Aldo’s tasting series, Vigil will pour rare older vintages of Catena Zapata and Gran Enemigo — a chance to explore how two landmark projects have evolved over time. Expect a deep dive into his philosophy: wines shaped by meticulous vineyard study and the character of alluvial and limestone soils. Rare Book Fair at the Modern Art Museum Saturday and Sunday, December 13-14Museo de Arte Moderno Free admission Bookworms behold! The Feria del Libro Raro is easily one of the most intriguing events in Buenos Aires this weekend. This year’s fair moves to a new venue: the Museo de Arte Moderno. The event brings together rare and scarce titles prized for their bibliophile value, offering a chance to discover works you won’t stumble upon anywhere else. Expect handcrafted books produced in small batches by indie presses that revive traditional printing techniques while experimenting with form and content. Many are hand-bound or printed on antique presses using lead type and specialty paper. The fair is also a meeting point for booksellers, editors, and collectors — and a welcoming gateway for anyone curious about the world of rare books.
