Argentine duo Ca7riel & Paco Amoroso released a new single on Thursday evening featuring British star Sting, an international collaboration that previews their upcoming album Free Spirits. The track, titled Hasta Jesús tuvo un mal día (Even Jesus had a bad day), is the first advance from their new work scheduled for release March 19. The video shows Sting and the duo in meditating positions. The stark whiteness of a wellness-center is the setting for the scene, shoeing the performers in matching cream athletic wear, practicing “mindful listening” exercises. In the song, the artists sing about the burnout of fame, healing and balance (“Neither Cartier nor Dior will help with your pain / Neither coke or alcohol will heal you”), with an encouraging, uplifting tone. The parody video The release is yet another step in a months-long marketing strategy. It all started late last year when the duo announced through social media that they had cancelled the release of their upcoming album “Top of the Hill” in order to take what they said would be an indefinite pause. “We need to rest and heal”, they wrote at the time, citing pressure from rapid fame. Last week, however, the duo posted a 6-minute video of Sting welcoming viewers to the British musician’s “Free Spirits Wellness Center.” The fictional promotional clip describes the move as a “top tier operation” he chose to keep secret, aimed at “world leaders” and “paradigm-shifting figures.” Sting also claims his center was the origin of practices like mindfulness and cryotherapy. The former The Police frontman goes on to say that he has taken the duo “under his wing” after they “suffered a breakdown” and cancelled the release of their album Top of the Hills, that he described as “literally the worst I ever heard in my life.” Towards the end, he plugged information about a release on March 19. The duo at the Grammys At the last edition of the Annual Grammy Awards in Los Angeles, Ca7riel & Paco Amoroso won their first Grammy in the Best Latin Rock or Alternative Album category, for Papota. The pair had also won a Latin Grammy for best alternative music album last year, when they picked up five awards, including best alternative music song (#Tetas) and best pop song (El Día del Amigo).
