Time travel at La Rural: a VR trip to medieval France

Date:

Buenos Aires has gained a new gateway to the past. Following the success of Art Masters and The Horizon of Khufu, DG Tech Lab has premiered its latest augmented virtual reality expedition La ltima Fortaleza (The Last Fortress). A 45-minute immersive journey, the experience transports visitors to the year 1304 in Carcassonne, the largest fortified medieval city in Europe. Guided by Simon, a young noble, and Agns, a rebel resident, participants explore a world where history meets fantasy, encountering knights, witches, and dragons amidst the looming shadow of the Inquisition. The experience, available in both Spanish and English audio, has a duration of about 45 minutes. Developed in collaboration with experts from the Centre des Monuments Nationaux, the project uses high-generation 3D technology to recreate the UNESCO World Heritage site with meticulous detail. From bustling medieval markets and combat training to the private chambers of the nobility, the simulation offers a “living” history lesson. The storyline, which follows young noble Simon as he meets the rebellious maiden Agnes only to discover a dark secret within the city run by his uncle, also includes a supernatural surprise element, blending actual medieval history with popular references like HBOs Game of Thrones series.
