Get Out!: Country nights and cosmic shows light up Buenos Aires

Date:

Summer it’s starting to cool down, but that doesn’t mean you should. Our lineup of recommendations for this weekend ranges from country line dancing at ICANA to cosmic installations at the Galileo Galilei Planetarium, including open-air cinema and major live shows.  You can reminisce about The Police songs with original guitarist Andy Summers, revel in themed dining inspired by Wong Kar-wai, or dance cumbia at the rhythm of Villa Diamante under the stars. Or, as we strongly recommend, all of the above. Vermouth & Live Country Music at ICANA February 27, 7:30 p.m.ICANA (Maipú 672, CABA) Baigorria String Band at ICANA US-Argentine Cultural Institute ICANA is sending summer off country-style — vermouth in hand, boots on the floor and bluegrass in the air — with La Baigorria String Band bringing high-energy fiddles, banjos and that unmistakable Appalachian groove to downtown Buenos Aires. Expect foot-tapping rhythms, tight harmonies and a country line dance session that’s more fun than formal, led by Beatriz Pazo’s Line Dance Club. Feel free to dress the part — jeans, boots, a flannel if you’ve got one — but no pressure. You can country your own way. Tickets and details are available on ICANA’s website and social media. Festival Planetario 2026  February 28, 1 p.m.Galileo Galilei Planetarium, Av. The lineup includes a science masterclass by Guggenheim scholar and former Herald writer Diego Golombek as well as telescope observation (subject to weather and visibility conditions) Some of the activities are free of charge, although seats are limited to 250 people. Tickets are required for the immersive shows, and will be available for online purchasing starting on February 25 at noon.  Argentina, 1985 at Parque de la Memoria February 28 — 6:30 p.m.Parque de la Memoria — Av.
